The team behind Top Gear Live have created Ignition - A new festival of motoring taking place at the SECC Arena in Glasgow from 5th - 7th August this year.

The show itself will consist of an indoor motoring exhibition featuring static displays from manufactures, dealers, collectors, etc. and a huge range of vehicles both classic and modern.

A mile-long street circuit around the SECC campus will feature shows each day showing everything from classics and supercars, to a tribute to the history of BMW, classic F1 Cars, historic rally cars, as well as custom built off-roaders, hot-rods, and the Red Bull F1 team with David Coulthard at the wheel of the Red Bull RB7.

Ignition Festival of Motoring - 5 to 7 August

The organisers of the Ignition Festival of Speed are looking for a range of classic Cars to take part in this three day extravaganza.

If you would like totake part with your classic then it would be on display in the SECC hall, and out on track.
The track itself is a demonstration track, not designed for flying laps and racing, but with a 50mph speed limit to allow us to showing off the great cars we have in the show. It will be operated by the MSA with marshals from the SMRC. Mercedes will be providing pace and safety cars.

Cars taking part in the track shows will be parked in a custom-built covered paddock around the Armadillo building.

Timetable for classic owners :-
  • Thursday 4th August - Car deliveries & rehearsals
  • Friday 5th August - Show Day 1 - 3x track shows (AM, PM and Evening)
  • Saturday 6th August - Show Day 2 - 2x track shows (AM and PM)
  • Sunday 7th August - Show Day 3 - 2x track shows (AM and PM)

Owners taking part are to arrive on Thursday 4th and be present throughout the weekend to take part in all the shows listed above (Owners will drive their own cars on track, or send someone insured to drive their car).

Cars will also need to remain on site throughout the weekend, locked down in the paddock overnight. As you would expect with so many vehicles at the show, there will be 24 hour security guards on site throughout the weekend.

With regards insurance; the track will be insured by the MSA. All cars taking to the track will be on their owners insurance, so we recommend owners check with their insurance companies to ensure they are covered for this activity.
